57th BARTON POPE LECTURE

Monday 8 October 2018 at 7.30pm

Commissioner Chris Burns CSC
‘Looking for the Slip, Slop, Slap of mental health – sounds like a breeze when you say it like that’

Chris Burns is South Australia’s inaugural Mental Health Commissioner. Appointed in July 2016, he was tasked with establishing the South Australian Mental Health Commission and developing a strategic plan for the state, focused on strengthening the mental health and wellbeing of South Australians. The SA Mental Health Strategic Plan 2017-2022 was released in December and is based on a vision that by 2037: South Australia is internationally recognised as a resilient, compassionate and connected community that takes a whole-of-person, whole-of-life, whole-of-
government and whole-of-community approach to building, sustaining and strengthening the mental health and wellbeing of South Australians in order to grow the State’s mental wealth.
