The Mental Health Coalition of SA were pleased to work with Ian Goodwin Smith on this practical guide for working with carers of people with a mental illness.
“Historically, the training of professional staff and the delivery of care to people in both the acute and recovery phases of a mental illness have been organised around an individual treatment model. Confidentiality has been seen as fundamental and has sometimes become a constraining element when caring for an individual. This has resulted in many situations where carers are unable to contribute or receive information or to participate in the recovery process.”
